The wildlife of Costa Rica: A photo-blog

Costa Rica is well known for its diverse and vibrant wildlife, and deservedly so. Everywhere bright birds soared, iguanas lounged and spiders crawled. At night, the forests came alive, tiny tree frogs below sleepy, relaxed sloths. Here are just a few of the animals we encountered...

I almost missed this well-camouflaged viper resting on a branch

On a night hike in Monteverde, huge insects fluttered all around
Beautiful birds in a rainbow of colours
Iguanas rested in the trees...

... And lounged on the ground
Slow sloths took their time moving around
Whilst monkeys leaped swiftly above us, curiously peering through the foliage
